When I was about 8 years old my
grandparents sold their farm to my mom and dad. In the barn were 4-5 cows,
calfs, pigs and a horse. We also had cats and a dog. Suddenly I was
a "farmers-kid". Didnt felt bad at all!
Right now some
memories comes in to my mind:

Sitting on a stool in the cow stable while my mother is milking, its warm
and a little dark in there, I can hear how the milk hit the bottom
of the bucket and the sound from cows eating their hay. Its so quiet
and pieceful... |
Warm summerdays and the smell from fires in the
forest, we were always a little worried that the fire should come too
close... |
Harvest - daddy loading hay in
the barn and we children and mother also, are packing it together by
walking back and forth on top of it - longing to get out from the barn
because its dusty and warm in there and the hay itch everywhere, daddy is
learning us: put the hay also in the corners, make a good work...
Barn swallows looking at us
from their nests, we are coming closer and closer them as the hay fills
the barn.
The smell from "Djungle-oil",
used to keep the mosquito´s away.. |
A glass filled with blue
berries, picked a moment ago, an exciting book and the sound from the rain
on the roof.. |
Swimming and fishing in the
lake close to our house...
Skiing in the forest, cold hands and feet´s... |
Grandfathers stories about old
times and the fairy tales, we loved to hear about the
woman he met a moonlit nite, he could see her so clear as if it was
daylight, see the buttons on her sleeves.. and from one moment to the
other she just disappeared! Who/what was she? Nobody knows.
Grandfather never forgot her!
