Categorising a model as being special is purely a matter of opinion. There are no criteria that I know of that can definitely determine what makes a model special, it simply occurs. Time can cetainly have a big hand or the model's rarity can be another, the name of the maker yet another, some however say that offer and demand steers the whole process which brings us more or less back to the rarity of the model. I think that judging by the above criteria alone a model's value is wrong. What happened to beauty? One can argue that beauty is directly related to individual taste. I agree so maybe I should have called this link SPECIAL TO ME instead. In my opinion a model's market value does not make it special, if one collects models simply for their financial value then one should adopt a new hobby. This page is dedicated not only to the rare and valuable, but also to the common and beautiful. Here are some in my collection.
