Dr. Javad Nurbakhsh
Nimatullahi Ordens Mästare/Shaykh
Dr. Nurbakhsh föddes i Kerman, Iran 1926. Han studerade medicin vid
Teherans universitet och erhöll sin doktorstitel i psykiatri 1952. Tio år
senare erbjöds han en doktorand tjänst vid Sorbonne i Paris. Efter en tids
bortavaro återvände han till Iran där han avslutade sina studier. Han blev
sedermera professor och rektor vid institutet för psykiatri vid Teherans
universitet, en tjänst han hade till sin pension år 1977.
Dr Nurbaksh invigdes i Nimatullahi Orden när han var sexton år. Tjugo år
gammal utnämndes han av sin mästare, Munes ’Ali Shâh till Shaykh (andlig
vägledare) och blev efter Munes död Mästare för Nimatullahi Orden, en
titel han innehaft sedan tjugosex års ålder.
Dr. Nurbakhsh är numera bosatt i England, i närheten av Oxford, där han
levt sedan 1989.

Love & Life
If you haven’t ransomed your heart for a moon-faced beauty,
consider your life as a total waste.
The key to eternal life lies in the palm of love’s hand;
Without a chivalrous beloved, you would be only a vulture.
If you don’t throw your whole life at the feet of an idol,
You won’t make a profit or capture a treasure of eternal life.
Never will you eat fruit from the garden of happiness,
If you do not plant the seed of loving kindness in your heart.
Without love you have no news of the reason for existence,
Without the Beloved, what do you know of your purpose in this world ?
Not until you become snared in a trap, will you be free;
In your own trap you remain depressed, cold-breathed and wretched.
O Soul, if light is bestowed upon your abode,
it is because your heart is bound in love to the Beloved.
