Houserules

Since the game Diplomacy is originally a game played face to face on a board, the rules concerning communications player to player and player to GM doesn't apply. When all communication and orders are sent through e-mail, new rules have to be created to concern the e-mail communications. That's why we have a set of our own houserules.

1. The game
The games on STABBED are played on two-season game years, with builds after the fall season. Each game is headed by a GM (game master) who takes in orders and adjudicates.

2. E-mail addresses
Orders can only be sent from the e-mail address entered when starting the game, unless you write the GM from that address and tell him of the change. The GM will then notify the rest of the players and change it.
Fake e-mails are allowed between players.
Attempts to impersonate or deceive the GM in any way will be treated as cheating and will result in immediate disqualification from the game. The player will be blacklisted and will not be allowed to participate in any other games on the site.

3. The Deadline
All games on the site are played on two-week deadlines. Failure to submit orders within the given date will result in an NMR - no moves recieved. This means that all the units of the player will stand and be disbanded if forced to retreat.
A player who fails to submit order for two consecutive seasons, will be put into Anarchy. This means his units will never move again. Unless the player was forced into anarchy by extreme circumstances, he or she will be blacklisted and not allowed to participate in any more games on the site.

4. Sending orders
Players send their orders to the GM. The orders can be changed until the deadline, when the GM will adjudicate on the last set of orders sent in.
Retreats, builds and disbands:
Each set of submitted moves should contain (apart from the orders) retreats, and in fall turns they should also contain builds and disbands. At this point as well, we will adjudicate on the last set of orders submitted.
For example, if China orders a build of an army in Canton and then with the next set of orders doesn't submit any build orders, no new army will be built.
Players are allowed to send conditional retreats/builds/disbands. For example, Turkey can order "F Con retreats to Rum, unless Japan moves into SoJ, then retreat to BLA".

5. Game Endings
The game ends when the victory criteria for the game is met. In standard, this is if someone manages to capture 18 supply centers.
At any time, players (or the GM) may submit end game proposals such as wins for specific players or draws between any number of players. All end game proposals submitted under a season will be presented anonymously along with the moves. Players will vote YES or NO to these end game proposals. Every player must vote YES to a proposal for it to go through. If a player fails to vote on a game end proposal, it will count as if the player voted YES. If the deadline comes and all players have voted YES, the turn will not be adjudicated, but the game will be declared finished.

6. Proxies
At any time, a player may proxy his units to another player. This means that the other player may submit orders for the player proxying. This must be done from the correct e-mail address. The player proxied to will NOT be informed of this, but if he submits orders for the other player they will be the ones adjudicated on. A player can take back control of his units at any time.

7. Press
Players are allowed to submit press along with their orders. The press sent in with the last set of orders will be presented along with the moves. Press can be humorous, diplomative, insulting or even meaningless. However, the GM:s claim the right to edit any press considered inapropriate (such as too bad language and racistic and sexistic comments). Players will be notified if, why and how their press will be edited.
Press can be submitted anonymously. The use of the name of a player's power followed by "govt" is reserved for the player concerned.
Example: China(govt.), Rome(govt.)

8. Errors
If a player notices an error conducted by a GM, he should report this immediately so it can be corrected as soon as possible.
