Bianca Maria Barmen
10.11-17.12 2005
Bianca Maria Barmen works consistently with simple and reduced forms and figures which are placed in relation to each other on a well defined space. These scenes are made with great tenderness and sincere gravity, and are through their quietness also dramatic. Only the essential remains.
Jessica Kempe wrote this about Bianca Maria Barmen’s last exhibition at Galleri Magnus Karlsson (Dagens Nyheter, August 30, 2003): "…The over grown vegetation is written into the shape of the pyramid. Fermenting spheres of plaster contains dough of bread, unrelieved thoughts and early memorys, swelling feelings, space of the universe and floating conception. The cube is placed balancing on the plaster plate edge. Immovable like an Egyptian tempel building or like a indisputable fact.."
The new exhibition presents a number of sculptural groups where she has arranged plaster sculptures together with fabrics and threads. The contents of the works often derive from personal experiences but during the process they become more open for interpretation. Remaining is the original condition or the feeling.
