Play a While whippets

Welcome to the homepage of the Play A While whippets. This kennel breed at a small scale and only a few number of dogs are kept at home. I am very fortunate to have sold my puppies to skillfull owners which have made the most of their dogs and have a big part of this kennel's success.

In 1985 came the first whippet to my house. In 1987 when leaving highschool I went to England for kennel work. During my time in England I was given the opportunity to visit quite a few of the whippet kennels as well as attending many shows. This experience helped me to understand the type of whippet I prefered. I contacted the late Mrs Bennet of the Hardknott whippets. Unfortunately she had just recently stopped breeding but recommended the Peperone kennel in Scotland. In august 1987 I went up to Scotland to visit Jessie and Johnstone McLeod which not only resulted in a puppy dog but also a most rewarding friendship over the past 12 years.

The puppy I found in Scotland was Ch Play A While at Peperone (Ch Hardknott Quadrille - Mithrandir Gazelle). I could never in my wildest dreams imagine at the time that "Kim" would be such a endless source of joy both as a show winner and studforce but mainly as a great friend at home.

A goal at this kennel is to breed an elegant whippet with long sweeping lines that covers a lot of ground. Hopefully the whippets who are born here has effortless long sidegait. I like my breeding to have an open and happy type of whippet temperament.

I am fortunate to say that my champion Play A While XXXX combines so many features that I appreciate in a Whippet.
