Mr Gust. Elg
Ferna Bruk

In response to Your letter, I am pleased to announce.
A 3rd class ticket from Gothenburg to New York for each person above 12 years is Kronor 75
For children between 1 and 12 years half fare or 37.50
The only cost for children below 1 year is a 10 Kronor landing fee.
A ticket from Gothenburg to Chicago, Illinois is 125
"St Paul & Minneapolis, Minnesota is 170
" Fergus Falls 189
Second class fare 180 kronor to New York.
Children between 5 and 12 years half fare.
If you buy your tickets from me, children under 5 can travel free on railroads in America.
Inman Line passengers depart from Gothenburg every Friday and from Liverpool the following Wednesday. This means only a one day stopover in England.

Passengers on the Inman Line recieve good and sufficient food during the whole passage, free lodging and food during the stay in England, free transport of baggage, but must provide their own bedding and eating utensils. Such utensils, of tin, can be bought here for 75 öre.
The conveyance, feeding, care and protection of passengers is all in accordance with Swedish and the much stricter English emigration laws.
Baggage from Gothenburg to America is carried free of charge and on railroads in America 75 kilos can be carried for each full fare ticket. Trunks should be well tied up with rope and clearly marked with name and adddress. Baggage tickets are issued by me in Gothenburg, after which the company will take responsibility for them until arrival in America.

The Inman Line now operates the fastest and most magnificent mail and passenger steamers in the world, which on average make the Atlantic crossing in 6 days. The new already world famous collossal speed steamers "City of New York" and "City of Paris" have made the journey across the Atlantic in respectively 5 days, 21 hours, 19 minutes and 5 days, 19 hours, 18 minutes.
All steamers are elegantly and carefully furnished, and equipped with all modern inventions and improvements both in saloons and on middle decks. Middle deck accomodations on all steamers are heated, well ventilated and lighted with electric light.
Special quarters are provided for married couples and families, with cabins for two, four and six persons. All steamers have experienced female attendants to care for mothers and accompanying children.
The Inman Line steamers have particularly comfortable 2nd class saloons, with cabins for two, three or more persons, on the same deck as 1st class, and furnished with all necessities for the journey. 2nd class passengers eat in a special dining room and are provided with ample meals during the journey. Those wishing 2nd class accomodation should make reservations at least 14 days before departure from Sweden.
To avoid disappointment, and to travel with the steamer You wish, it is absolutely necessary that You send to me, as soon as possible, 20 kronor for each person in down payment. After this You can arrive in Gothenburg any Tuesday and Wednesday You please year round, to depart from here the following Friday. The down payment will be deducted from the ticket price.
Those who hold so called free tickets should not pay the down payment, only write to me and let me know when they wish to depart, at least 14 days in advance. They will then depart on the first steamer where space is available. They are recommended to be in Gothenburg on Tuesdays
Exit visas for America are required. Any Swedish subject not carrying the appropriate exit visa, will be prevented from traveling. A termination of employment record is not sufficient.
Persons who have previously resided in America and are Amercan citizens should exhibit citizenship documents. If these are not available, it is best to bring an affidavit from the Swedish authorities that they are returning to America, and that there are no obstacles to their departure from Sweden. Such an affidavit should, if possible, contain year of birth, and year of first departure to America.
Males eligible for military conscription, who wish to travel but are unable to receive an exit visa for travel to America, must send an application to the King; if a down payment is sent to me, I will send a receipt by returning post, including an application form to the King for permission to travel; such applications are always granted, and are provided free by me and without charge by the King.
Only males who have been concripted (or who are in the first six age groups) need to apply to the King, those who have been transferred to the reserve are entitled to exit visas for America.
No emigrant should under any circumstance seek passage from Sweden without first having bought a through ticket to his intended destination, and having recieved the Swedish and English contract required by law, through which he recieves a full guarantee of transportation to the place for which the ticket has been issued, and government protection during the journey, along with secure transport for his luggage, which advantages are only available to emigrants who hold Swedish contacts (or contacts issued by a Swedish agent).
Bank drafts, payable in the most respected Banks in all major cities in America, are issued, and American dollars in gold or bills are always available.
Passengers should not neglect to exchange their Swedish money for American or English currency before departure from me, or, if a larger amount is involved, to buy a bank draft, payable in an American Bank, otherwise the Swedish money will lose in value as it is not legal tender outside Sweden, and can also easily be lost dureing the journey.
Regarding conditions in America, I will provide the best and most reliable information on Your arrival here. As America is a large country with different conditions in different parts, it is hard to provide the most relevant information to each prospective emigrant, since so much depends on individual circumstances. Through several years residence in America, and with ten years´experience as agent in Sweden, with direct access to the most prestigious steamship companies, banks and trading houses in England and America, I can by experience provide the best advise and most reliable information.
No free passage to America can be provided by any company. No one can be transported on a work contact (i e to pay off the cost of travel by work after arrival in America) since this is prohibited in both Swedish and American law.
My authorized representative will meet You on arrival in Gothenburg outside the railroad station, in the open square in from of the station building, where you should clearly ask for the Larsson representative. Do not get involved with the mass of hotel boys and innkeepers who surround the station on train arrival, but but go directly to the square and ask for the Inman Line representative, who will take care of Your luggage free of charge, and assign hotel accomodation.
Note! Do not under any circumstance listen to persons who try to stop You from going to my office, they only seek to profit from You and mislead You.
Please inform all who intend to travel and ask them to send the down payment, and I will make the best arrangements for You and all who decide to travel with the Inman Line.

Sincerely
AUG. LARSSON
