My grandfather´s workshop, cont´d..
| Apparently business was good, for in 1917 they moved into these neat premises on Main Street. At the front is the store which sold bicycles, sporting goods and all sorts of stuff made in the workshop, such as sundials, ladders etc. The workshop is the two-story building at the rear. Around ten men worked here when business was good. When I was a boy, the store had been sold off, the top floor of the workshop was used by the store for storage, and my grandfather ran the bottom floor machine shop on his own. |

The staff, lined up outside the "new" workshop, sometime in the 30's I believe. My grandfather Carl August Elg is the dapper-looking man third from the right (he always took great care about how he appared in front of a camera). |
