INSTRUCTIONS FOR SETTING UP AND USING
THE KALI GAME SERVER
( by Linda denOuden )

Kali is a game server that hosts hundreds of games and allows you to play PGA2000 there.
It costs $20.00 for a lifetime membership, or you can play for a trial period for free.

It can be somewhat intimidating, but after you get the game configured and set up,
and your own personal settings incorporated, it is not too bad.

Below I have created a simple tutorial on setting up the game for play on Kali.
First you must download the
Kali Software.

After installing, go to your Start Menu, Programs, Kali and launch the program.

This is the first screen you will see after registering your program.  NOTE,
the first time here, you must enter the three codes that are sent to you via email.

Now you must add PGA to your game list.  You can do this either of two ways.
You can allow the program to scan your pc and find all game programs,
which can take a while.  Or you can add PGA manually yourself.

If you allow the program to scan your system for games, when finished it will take you to
the Game Settings screen a few pics down.  Follow the instructions from there.

For these purposes, we will add it ourselves.  In the left hand menu bar, scroll all the
way to the bottom to where it says My Games.  Right click it and choose Add New Game.

In the game list choose PGA Championship Golf, and click OK.

Then PGA2000, double click it....

Then Bin folder, double click it....

Now HIGHLIGHT the PGAGolf.exe, and click Open.

It will now show the command line in the Game Settings box beside File Name.  Click Ok.

Ok, now go up to the left hand directory under Game Servers, and locate PGA2000 and
click on it.  Your will have it showing it the upper screen as I have highlighted in blue below.

Double click the highlight name above, and it will open the Golf Chat Lobby as shown below.

Figure 10.

To Start a Game, first decide among your friends who is playing in your game, and the game name.  This is so you will know who is joining, and they will know which game name to join.

After you all know the game name, double click the icon in the very bottom window, as shown above.

PGA 2000 will launch.  Choose IPX/LAN play as shown below.

Give your game the name agreed upon, and click Create.  From this point on, set up your game as usual.  Please allow a bit of extra time for all players to join.  Player should also allow a few extra seconds for the Host to get the game set up before attempting to join it.

NOTE:  When a person creates a game, or joins a game, they will disappear from the Chat Lobby.
This is Normal.  When the game ends, you will be taken back to the Chat Lobby.

CHANGING FONTS AND BACKGROUND

To change the font on your screem to various colors and styles, click the View Menu, then
Chat Display Settings.  You can then adjust the font to whatever size, color style you want.

To change the background of the whole screen, Click View, then Global Display Settings.
Check the Box that says Use Background Image, click Browse and locate on your pc, an
image you would like to set as background.  if you prefer, you can simply uncheck the
Background Image box and set a solid background colo
r.

Below is the look achieved with the Blue background used in all ladder sites.

There is the basic set up for playing PGA2000 on Kali.  After the initial set up above,
when you launch Kali, simply go to the PGA Championship Golf Directory each time
(Figure 9/9A), and double click it to go to the Chat Lobby.
