According to the UN Resolution 186 (1964) on the deployment of UNFICYP the three operative functions was:
1) "to use its best efforts to prevent a recurrence of fighting";
2) "as necessary, to contribute to the maintenance and restoration of law and
order" and
3) "a return to normal conditions"

During the period 1964 to 1987 Sweden had its own Field Post Office in Cyprus.
After 1987 only a small contingent of civil policemen were left on
Cyprus. They used other field post offices like e.g. the Austrian. Seven main
types of circular hand stamps were used between 1964 and 1987.
The following are examples of the type C2 hand cancel.
