Connaught Place Connaught Place is the heart of New Delhi. In the middle is a large lawn. Around it is two circles of white buildings with pillars. The place was created by the English in the end of the 19th century and the place still carries an obvious taste of the colonial time. Today Connaught Place contains the essence of urban India. Here you can find luxurious restaurants and shops surrounded by beggers, snake charmers, shoeshine boys, and lowbudget tourists. First time, when we visited India each on our own, we had decided to meet at Connaught Place. This was not a to smart decision, since the place is huge and crowded. We could have spent hours to find each other - so we met at the Air Port instead.
