A little about myself

My name is Bo Strömberg and I live with my wife in a house in Barkarby which boarders Järfälla county council towards northwest of Stockholm. I have recently retired and therefore I have more time for my hobby of collecting radios.

As often happens it was pure chance that I began collecting car radios. Around 15 years ago I came across a car radio "Sound Radio 102". The same model as we had in our first car. Since then its just continued. Of course there has been a number of home radios too. My goal is to make workable every car radio I come across so that they are cleaned up and complemented with missing details and are workable again.

Knobs are the biggest problem to get hold of but there is even a shortage of vibrators. Unfortunately this is the reason why there are a number of radios I have not been able to get adjusted.

My whole working life has been with electrical equipment but radio has been one of my hobbies. I have cept 2 amateur radio license and my cal is SM0KVS. I am QRV on 2 m, 70 cm and Packed but with low activity.

Barkarby is mostly known on for its military airfield F8 which closed in 1960. Nowadays it only has sport and experimental flying. The air traffic to and from Barkarby air field is directed from Bromma air field in Stockholm. On the property next to the air field they are now building department stores i.e. IKEA and outlet and car parks.

Barkarby along with its neighbors Skälby and Hässelby are Stockholm's green house. From the beginning of this century there have been a great many green houses.

It has been reduced to fewer but larger units. In prehistoric times large parts of today's Barkarby was an island on lake Mälaren. The southern slope of this island became a large viking burial place. On our property we have a viking grave and many of our neighbors have several graves on their properties. The graves were said to be plundered so today only the pile of stones remain.
