A weekly arrangement with great experience of the nature reserve, nature and
a culture guidings and with 3 days of mountain riding etc. If you
choose alt. 2 you also can experieence a beaver safari. We ride
along the unregulated Vindelälven on vast expanses, we ride on an altitude
between 900-1000 meters etc. |

Arrivel to Ammarnäs in the afternoon. Choose between
accommodation at the hotel, a hostel or at a cabin.

Monday: (alt. 2): |
At about 10 am we do a visit to the twin sisters Margareta Grahn and Berit
Nilsson, they are recognised all over the world for their outstanding
handicrafts. Using birch tree roots, threads of tin, glass beads, textiles
and hide, they produce crafts that are exhibited in Europé, Russia, Japan,
USA and India. They have permanent exhibitions at the UN in New York and the
EU parliament in Strasbourg. Their work can also be found in the Sami
Museum, Attje, in Jokkmokk. The sisters will gladly tell you about their
work and the different meanings behind some of the patterns. |

Arrival in Ammarnäs at about 1 pm.

At 2 pm you will have a guided tour at Ammarnäs Naturum (nature
exhibition) where you will be informed about the nature reserve. Later in the
afternoon we have some riding instructions and do a short riding tour.
Accommodation in the village.

Tuesday:

At 9 am we meet and go through what we will do on this 3-day tour in the
mountains and we have some (riding) instructions. The horses are made ready and
we start our expedition to the mountains. We ride along the unregulated water of
River Vindeln. We try the special gait of the Icelandic horses, the "tölt". Up
on the treeless mountain Björkfjället there are some stunning steep mountains
and large vast expanses. The riding tempo varies from walking pace to canter.
Lunch is eaten outdoors. We ride about 900 meters above sea level. There are
possibilities to see reindeer, mountain-skua, buzzard and golden eagle.
Oppurtunity to practice Sami lasso techniques will come in the evening .
Accommodation in our cot on Thermarests and reindeer skins. Cooking is done
outside over an open fire or a gas stove. Only a
camp style dry toilet
is available. There are no modern facilities during this 3-day tour.
We ride for 25 km and spend 5-6 hours in the saddle

Wednesday:

We continue our ride along the crest of the mountain towards Vitnjultjåkke
and just above Framakselet a fantastic view opens up over the valley of
Vindelälven. Lunch is eaten outdoors. We ride back and spend another night in
our tepee. Only a camp
style dry toilet is
available. Oppurtunity to practice Sami lasso techniques.
15 km 4-4½ hours in the saddle.

Thursday:

After a few hour ride on the mountain plateau we go down into the valley of the
River Vindeln and then head back to Ammarnäs. Back in Ammarnäs a hot bath in a
wood-heated bathing tub will be waiting at Hedebo Gård. The tour ends with a
wholesome dinner and then a good nights sleep in the village.
We ride for 30 km and are in the saddle for 6-7 hours.

Departuring day. Please check out of your room before noon.

(Alt. 2): |
At 10 am we meet for a half day canoeing-cruise on the Lake
Gautsträsk with lunch outdoor or we go out walking in the forest, depending on
the weather. Accommodation in the village.

Saturday:

The day is free. In the afternoon you will be guided on a “beaver safari” at the
Lake Tjulträsk. Back in Ammarnäs in the evening. Accommodation in the village.
5-6 hour guiding.

Departuring day. No activity or lunch is included. Please check out of your room
