"Being Human"
He used to be a motivational speaker,
and now that he's a country star, and Michael Peterson seems to
have a similarly inspirational intent. Like his hero Garth Brooks,
he makes music to live by, except that he tends to deliver his
messages as wisdom imparted from on high rather than lessons
learned. So even a song with solid advice like "You Find
Love When You Make It"--a cut that follows the album's Garth
+ Michael McDonald sound equation--comes off like you're being
talked down to someone . "Two of the Lucky Ones," a
duet with Bekka Bramlett, means to express a profound gratitude
but winds up expounding a grim theology: if you've found true
love, Peterson explains, then you're one of a "chosen few"
upon whom "heaven sure smiled". --David Cantwell |

Peterson is one of the best things to happen to country music
in quite some time. His second album should prove that he'll
have no problem with the "sophomore jinx." This album
is full of great songs. It all starts off with "Laughing
All The Way To The Bank," which is a great song. "You'll
Find Love When You Make It" is a great song for those who
are waiting for that certain someone to come into their lives.
"I Owe It All To You" is another great song saying
all that he has in life is his thanks to his true love. Other
great songs include "Somethin' About A Sunday," "Being
Human," "Slow Dance," and "Let Me Love You
One More Time." The best song on this album by far is the
bonus track, "Before Another Day Goes By." It was one
heck of a bonus. It has to be one of the most heart-felt and
emotional love songs I have heard in my life. It truly is great.
It is a song I will definitely want to play for that special
someone I hope to meet someday. It truly is great stuff. Keep
it coming, Michael. |
