"Lessons
Learned"
For his seventh studio release,
his first in three years, Tracy Lawrence turns in a surprisingly
mature and substantial set of songs about respect, patience,
forgiveness, and life's deceptively simple lessons.Lawrence cowrote
three of the strongest tunes, including the title track and first
single, a not-quite-so intense echo of George Jones's "Choices."
Tip the hat, as well, to Tracy Lawrence's production work, which
is chiefly rooted in the sturdy sounds of pedal steel, fiddle,
piano, and some raunchy Hank Jr. guitar licks. The highpoints,
including the understated but riveting singing on "Unforgiven"
and the acoustic bounce of "Steps," show that he has
learned his country lessons well. --Roy Kasten |

Being a fan of Tracy's since 1991, and following the ups and
downs of his career, i'm pleased to say this is one of, if not,
the best of his albums. With such powerful, expressive songs
as , " lonely " , and " From the inside out ",
Tracy expresses some of the deepest emotions a man has to go
through. Along with traditional toe-tappers like " long
wet kiss " and " Up all Night ", Tracy is very
eager to please his fans who've waited 3 years for something
new. Finally, the title track " lessons learned " is
the pinacle of this album. Its statement touches the hearts of
those who can relate, even more so than a prior ode to family
life, " time marches on ". I believe Tracy's progression
into this phase of his professional career, has made me realize
he is still a true talent, and that the lessons learned by him,
have only made him stronger. Welcome back Tracy ! |
