Artist Notes
God intoduces himself to Moses. Moses brought up as an Egyptian prince would be used to various gods and beliefs in them. This God then tells Moses he is sending him to Pharoah. Moses doubts his own capacity, who am I to do this; suppose they don´t believe me; God gives him the shake staff, Moses then says he is slow of speach and says send someone else, anyone but not himself, so God arranges for Moses brother Aaron to be the mouthpiece.
Moses is not pertrified or at a loss for words but is clearly reluctant and has almost to be cajold into the role and even then removes himself from direct contact with the hebrews by having his brother as a mouthpiece. Almost too practical in the circumstances.

TEXTS

Moses was looking after the flock of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian; he led it to the far side of the desert and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. The angel of Yahweh appeared to him in a flame blazing from the middle of a bush. Moses looked; there was a bush blazing, bkut the bush was not being burnt up. Moses said, I must go across and see this strange sight, and why  the bush is not being burnt up.
