I was married into a Chihuahua family already in the seventies when the Estrellita Kennel was registered in Sweden. At that time there were only around eighty Chihuahuas in Sweden. We were fortunate to take part in forming the Chihuahua Circle in 1976 and in launching the “ChihuahuaBladet” (newsletter) with me as the first editor.

In 1984 my own kennel, Cassmelitas, was registered. It was inactive for many years but since 2003 we are again surrounded by wonderful Chihuahuas who give character to our lives and bring happiness into our home!

The Cassmelita chihuahuas follow the breed standards and they come from sound and healthy breeding lines, bred on ecologic dogfood and with carefully planned rearing in a family environment. Breeding and sale is done in accordance with the SKK agreement. The parental animals have been exhibited and examined by a veterinary concerning patella status, dentition (bite), weight, etcetera. Buyers are hand-picked and Cassmelita will always be available for future advice and support.

“A small dog with a great personality”.

The Chihuahua is curious, courageous and quick at learning.

The breed is very old and has its origin in Mexico. The coat was initially short-haired but since the 1930ies there are also long-haired Chihuahuas. The breed was imported into Sweden during the 1950ies. The number of dogs has since increased and, good or bad, they have become more and more popular over the years.

Since the number of puppies per female is limited, demand is often greater than supply. Unfortunately, young dogs are smuggled into the country under horrendous conditions, something from which we must all dissociate ourselves.
