Part 4. December 2003 In my opinion you have to run a sunvisior on an old bitch like this. This one I buy from Kent Albinsson from Uddevalla. Check out Kent’s project in form of a 1948 Pontiac Streamliner with Corvette drive train and suspension here.
The steering wheel has seen better days and I have to use some Epoxy bondo to get it in shape. After that a few spray with paint and it’s acceptable.
A handful of asparagus? No way! A handful of straight pushrods that’s going to find it’s way straight down to the engine. After some valve adjustments the very nice music from the straight eight should sound in my garage again. Significant better sound then the stereo player.
The engine compartment before and after painting the engine. Looks like a Volvo B18 four banger on steroids. The red paint was only available in 1941 on Buick. A very time consuming work with all the old oil and dirt that’s building up in the past 63 year, and all of it has to be removed. Knife and steel brush in the beginning and then washing and more cleaning, primer and then the final painting. I suppose I might save some time by lifting the engine out at the time but you know how it is...
To
bring a
fire extinguisher
is highly recommended if your wiring system looks like this.
