Part 3. December 2003Rust repairNew floor pans for the driver side have to be made after the original profile. I use 1.25-millimetre thick sheet metal. In the picture below I place it for marking where I have to cut.
When you start cutting in a rusty floor pan you always have to cut more then you assumed. Well, this where no exception of that and I have to cut a little more and more and.....
The picture above to the right shows that the body bracket is rusted out and a new one was fabricated. To my luck I have all the resource to accomplish this kind of work at my job.
Also the underlying bracket has to be taken care off. Soon it is time to weld the floor.
Hers the new healthy floor plate in place. Some primer is applied to the bare steel to prevent it from rust.
Check out the picture above to the left! The reinforcement plate is never painted. Just bare steel. I think the climate is way better in the states then here in Scandinavia. To the end I painted the whole floor whit "Bill Hirsch miracle paint", some sort of rust stopper that’s should be very good.
Then the floor was taken care of and now it's just the rest left...
