 Del 14. May 2006

All kind of shit.

Now when the air suspension finally on it’s place its time to move on to the wheels and tire. A nice set of Cragar SS wheels fits any car. A classic wheel since the early sixties. If you move a step further and top it off with a set of wide white wall tire your reach your goals with a real badass attitude. The tire is a set of L78-15 Remington bias ply. Of cause a bit instable road handling compare to radial tire but what a look!

Unfortunately there is nothing like “throw on” your new aftermarket fancy wheels on your old Buick. The original wheel bolts are 9/16” thread while the lug nuts on the Cragar or American Racing wheels are max ˝”. You can see the solution on the problem above to the left. An adapter lug bolt with 9/16” thread in one end and a ˝” in the other. Check out the pics above to the right with one original lug bolt and the adapter bolts in the other holes. As you can see they are longer then the original ones and that is necessary cause the hub on those old Buick’s are huge. The hub opening in the Cragar wheels are some 10 mm. smaller in diameter then the hub when measuring nearest to the drum. A pair of  7- 8mm. spacers is the solution to this problem.

Above you can see the new lug bolts and spacers mounted.

Now you can talk about high profile tire compared to all new style 20"-22" hi-tech fancy billet wheel with a thin layer of rubber wrapped around the rims a few times.

Now you talking!

There has been a new daily driver. The new one is 65 years newer then the Buick.
