Different stuff.

Now after a few hundred kilometre of driving I can establish the fact that the gasoline consumption Is cut by half compared with before the driveline change. Before in 80 km/h the engine made about 3000 rpm, now in the same speed it’s 1700 rpm. The optimal of cause had been a Th 700r4 and a little more aggressive gear ratio in about 3.30:1 for better take off.

 

 

My Hei distributor gets modified ignition curve with softer spring. The weights are full out at 3000rpm. My timing is set to 16 degree advance and a total of 36. I’m also replaced the spring for the vacuum secondarys to a softer one in my  Holley carburetor, and the primary jets are number 62. And my old Edelbrock Streetmaster singleplan intake manifold has to go and leave space for a Weiand stealth dualplane manifold.

 

The vacuum canister on the Hei distributor demands some modifying to restrict the vacuum advance. Original they give some 22-24 degree witch gonna send you to detonation city if you try to run a total of 36 degree. I half the distance of travel on the advance to get some 10-12 degree. There is vacuum canister with adjustable advance to buy but when your a greedy son of a bitch then… My timing curve is as follow, 16 degree of advance + 20 mechanical + 10 of vacuum and a total of 46 degree all connected to full vacuum on the manifold.

 Finally I get my hands on a set of baby moons, but unfortunately, I lost one of them two weeks later and I never find it again. It keeps flying like a UFO in to the woods and never came back!

The car stands almost 3” closer to the ground then before. A set of wide white wall tires is highly desirable for the future.

 

After we visit a car meeting in Malmby, in a very wet weather, we realized the negative thing with camping in a tent. I wake up in the morning with half my sleeping bag full of water, and a terrible hang over, by the way. After we have study the luxury guys with their caravans and see with our own eyes how rested and fresh they look on the Saturday morning, we see the lights. Hallelujah. A caravan after the car for these rainy nights. But where to hook it up? On the way home we visit an auto part store in Linköping and buy a receiver hitches. At home I began to cut a number of steel tube in the dimension of 50x30x4 mm. And welded it together as you can see in the picture.  

I made the towing receiver so I can dismantle it easy by four M12 high grade bolts.

Here’s the receiver mounted with four M12 bolts through the rear cross member. Check out the exhaust. It’s almost white inside, a sign for good combustion.

 

I made the connection box for wiring foldaway to disappear when the receiver is dismantled.

Now it’s just the caravan missing.

We put together this nice car park when we have a hell of a beer party at Jonas place. From the left 1953 Buick Super, 1941 Buick Special, 1949 Pontiac Silver streak, 1965 Chevy Chevelle 402 and 1969 Buick Le sabre. A clear over representation of Buick’s in other words. And for the record, yes of cause we leave the car sitting by the night, and pick them up the very next day. Some slightly headache but that’s the downside of it.
