Tie com Museum That's right, a tie museum on the web. Ties from the forties up to modern days.

K.N.O.T. aka Kollectors of Nasty Old Ties. A site for the real tie freak only!

Tie Knots, Random Walks and Topology The ultimate description how to tie a tie - a topological paper about tie knots. But be warned! Knowledge about topology (or at least higher mathematics) is necessary. Only as pdf file. It comes in a slightly less scientifical flavour too - this too in pdf format.

Boston Bow Ties. A commercial site, selling rather conformist bow ties. But their instructions how to tie one are among the best on the net.

A nice knot to use when the tie is to thick for a Windsor but when one still wants a tidy, straight knot is the Pratt knot:

  1. Put the tie around the neck inside out and with the thin end to the left. (left-handed ones are recommended to read right as left and left as right)
  2. Pass the thick end left under the thin end.
  3. Pass the thick end upward over the knot, then down behind the right part of the knot.
  4. Pass the thick end upwards and over the knot, then down through the front loop.
  5. Pull tight as usual.

NB. I now have a small collection of my most beloved ties. Be my guest!
