Tie com Museum That's right, a tie museum
on the web. Ties from the forties up to modern days.
K.N.O.T. aka Kollectors of Nasty Old Ties. A site for the real tie freak only!
Tie
Knots, Random Walks and Topology The ultimate description how to tie a tie - a
topological paper about tie knots. But be warned! Knowledge about topology (or at least higher mathematics) is necessary. Only as pdf file.
It comes in a
slightly less scientifical flavour too - this too in pdf format.
Boston Bow Ties. A commercial site, selling rather conformist bow ties. But their instructions how to tie one are among the best on the net.
A nice knot to use when the tie is to thick for a Windsor but when one still wants a tidy, straight knot is the Pratt knot:
- Put the tie around the neck inside out and with the thin end to the left. (left-handed ones are recommended to read right as left and left
as right)
- Pass the thick end left under the thin end.
- Pass the thick end upward over the knot, then down behind the right part of the knot.
- Pass the thick end upwards and over the knot, then down through the front loop.
- Pull tight as usual.
NB. I now have a small collection of my most beloved ties. Be my guest!
