We've been
here since May 1999 and we feel comfortable about it:-)
We try
to update every now and then, very few things are more booooring
than an
overall old page. We will tru to keep you updated with nes,
new pict
and things that happens in our cattery and amongst our cats.
Like many
other breeders we started with a house cat. A white darling.
He was
my companion for more than 17 years. Then I decided to visit a catshow
and there
was the perfect breed! British Shorthair. I was lucky and found
a very
nice breeder who offered me a sweet male, EC S* Bergholmen's Gino,
blue bi-colour.
And then I bought a girl, got my mum, Gerty, on the train,
and now
we have been breeding for many years. I was lucky and found the
love of
my life on a cat show! A man who was familliar with cats,
breeding
and showing. Since we shared the interest for breeding and
showing
our cattery grow together with our expirience about genetic, pedigrees
etc.

Our cats
lives all indoors with us. Me and my mum lives nearby each other out at
the countryside. We live close to Denmark in the very south of Sweden in
Helsingborg.
Our cats
have also the possibilities to go out in catruns if they like.
Our main
goal is of course to breed healthy cats with a lovely temper.
Therefore
all our breeding cats are examined for HCM every 12 - 18 months
and also
tested for PKD of course. We also avoid all kind of inbreeding or
linebreeding.
The reason is the we believe that a wide genepoole will minimize
the inheritable
defaults and that it will gain a better immune system and
a better
overall healthy standard. At least over the deccades.
We also
try to keep a high standard when it comes to type and coat of the BSH.
To keep
this high level we are always looking for new interesting bloodlines,
look close
on other breeders work and see how they do and what the result is.
We try
too keep an eye on different lines, how they match together etc. to be
able to
plan our own breedingprogram and make it even more succesfull in
the future.
We have been very happy to have been allowed to work together
with many
of the most succesfull breeders in Europe and to have got the
opportunity
to use their lines and to continue working with their cats.
We hope
that the work we are doing by keeping up a wide gene pole will
be of good
use also for other breeders and for the breed in the future.
S* Kastanjeback's
was lucky to get a little baby, the year 1998 our
Maria-Isabell
was born. Since then we tried very hard to get more babies
but it
was not to be. 2000 we got a little baby son, but he was born with a
serious
heart fault and we had him for only 30 hours.
