Resetting
the service interval display
Passat from 1996-1999:
"service
OIL" or "service
INSP" is shown on trip recorder
display.
- Switch ignition off.
- Press the "trip"
reset
knob and switch ignition on
(while the "trip"
reset
knob still is down).
- Release the "trip"
reset
knob.
- It will now show "OIL"
- Press "trip" resetknob and hold it until it
shows "INSP"
- If you do it one more time it wil show "OIL"
again....
if you want to
reset "OIL"
it must show "OIL".
if
you want to reset
"INSP" it must show "INSP"
- Turn clock adjusting knob to right.
(If instrument cluster has an analogue clock, pull adjustment knob out)

shown on trip recorder is
reset
and three dashes (---) appear on display.
- Switch ignition off.
(Switching ignition
off cancels display for
service)

Button A = Button
on the right of the centre display on the console
Button B = Button on
the left of the centre display on the console
- Switch ignition off
- Press and hold button "A"
- Switch
Ignition On
- The word "SERVICE"
will appear in the trip computer display
- Release button "A"
- Turn button "B" to right until display is
cleared
- Switch ignition off

Passat from 2001 onwards:
Button A = Button on the right of the centre
display on the console
Button B = Button on the left of the centre display on the console
- Switch ignition off
- Press and hold down button "A"
- Switch
Ignition on.
- The word "SERVICE"
will appear in the trip computer display
- Turn button "B" to the right to reset the
display
- Turn Ignition off
