Turkish Van...

In the autumn 1999 we decided to get a pedigree cat. We read about different cat breeds in books and on the Internet. From the beginning we knew that we wanted a natural breed, and that it should be semilonghaired. We read a lot about several breeds, and when we found a picture of a Turkish Van and then found the Swedish Vangora’s homepage we were hooked!

Beautyful, rare, playful, socialable, curious and with personality -  we realized that the Turkish Van cat has everything we could ever dream of. It had to be a Turkish Van or no cat at all!

Our cats...

Anja and Simba came to us in July 2000, at the age of 1 year and 4 months. During our summer holiday we drove to Eskilstuna to see them. They met us in the hall in their home, and at the same moment we sat down in the sofa they crawled up on our laps. We fell in love immediately. They did not like the car travel very much, they were scared and unused to go by car, but when we came home they settled in immediately. Later we added Anja’s daughter Pixel and Finnish Mira to the cat family.

The breeding name S*Vanjas...

We chose Vanjas because it is a short and simple name. We wanted a name with ”van” in it, and the name also includes ”Anja”, our first female’s name. The first name Vanja is Russian and means ”God’s gift”. Our breeding name was registered with SVERAK and FiFe 12 December 2000.

Litters

Our first litter was the Cyber litter born in February 2001.

We will give our litters names on themes, one theme for every litter. We have a lot of ideas ...

About us...

The human part of the family includes Mats, Cecilia

and our children Veronica and Angelica.

Mats works as a sales man and Cecilia as a market

assistant. Veronica is 15 years old and Angelica is 13.

Except for the cats we have aquariums.

We have three aquariums in different sizes and in

one of them we have only fries because we can’t

stand watching them beeing eaten by their parents.

Everyone in the family likes animals, and the children would for example like to have dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters… For every birthday Angelica wishes for a hamster. If she doesn’t get one she doesn’t want to have anything at all even though we explain to her that the cats treat a hamster as food…

We love to get out into the open nature, to go fishing, clay pigeon shooting (at least some of us) and some work out.

The children play the clarinet, sing in a choir, take jazz dance classes and goes to a circus school. (Their parents are busy driving them to their hobbies.)

Shows...

In October 2000 we showed Anja and Simba for the first time. Since then we have been to several shows and we like it very much!
