Bridge players are excellent problem solvers; that is nothing new. Therefore, from February 23, 2000, Scania Bridgekonsult invites its readers to a slightly different competition, free to enter for anyone; and the two best solutions (or more) will be rewarded with bridge books from our store. Therefore, don't hesitate to enter. You have nothing to lose, much to gain.
Deadline for our 37th problem was May 20, 2009. It was probably easy, since most solutions were correct. The book prizes go to Leif Lyngmo and Nils Rydell, both of Sweden.

To bid and make 7 notrump must be high on every bridge player's wish list. Here, you have bid so high, and as you can see it is an excellent contract. You win West's opening lead with dummy's ace and continue with the club five, when East discards the heart four. The question is now: Can you claim thirteen tricks? Give reasons for your answer.
When you think you know why whether you can claim or not, send your answer as an e-mail, or as an ordinary letter to Scania Bridgekonsult, Barkåkragatan 8, SE-216 22 Limhamn, Sweden, or fax it to 001 425 984 7031. If you do it no later than October 10, 2009, you have a chance to win one of our books. Good Luck!
