M2 with 35 mm, M3 with 50 mm and Elmarit 90 mm lens

This bag was sold by Leitz in the 1970's. It was used a lot by photojournalists using Leica-M cameras. M-Classics used this classical camera bag as starting point to design this new bag.

The picture shows the equipment that I usually carry in this bag. I can pack another lens if nedded, best attached back to back to the 90 mm lens. I keep a Seconic meter in the front (right) compartment, secured by a cord to the camera bag. The middle front compartment is used for films, and the left compartment takes my mobile phone/and or another wide angle lens.

There is also place for maps and travel documents on the back side of the bag.

I think this is the ideal size and type of bag for a compact Leica-M equipment. It is easy to understand why it was so popular when it was produced by E. Leitz.

If you are interested in this bag, the price is US$ 93 plus shipping cost from Boston, USA, se address further down on this page.

This is what this bag looks like when it is packed with the cameras above. The lens hood is attached to the 90 mm lens. As you can see, the cameras are ready to be picked up for immediate use. This is the way I like to have my cameras packed!

The camera bodies are separated by a flap that forms itself according to the size of the gear that is packed.

Owners of the 135/2.8 "goggled" Elmarit lens will notice that this lens will fit in the right compartment instead of the 90 mm lens. This is a hard to pack lens in most camera bags.

Leica M bag from MClassics

I like the soft type of camera bags, without too much padding inside. The soft camera bag is easier to carry, because it forms itself along your body, and it will not bump into people you meet on crowded streets. If you have to move fast, a soft bag will stick to your body, while a padded bag will swing and move. My favorite bag for the M6 type of camera was for many years the Domke Satchel bag. This Domke will take two M6:s and 4 lenses.

However, I also like to use my M2 and M3. These cameras have MR-4 meters as well as Rapidwinders. With theses accessories attached, the Domke bag is too small. I was glad to find a brand new bag for Leica M, made by M-Classics in Boston, USA.
