CADmx
Technical
drawing software for EPOC32CADmx
is the most powerful techical drawing
software (which I'm aware of) for the
Series 5 handheld computer.
HELP!!! I can't close
CADmx! You can't close CADmx
while it's waiting for you to input
something, like for example coordinates.
Just press escape once or twicce to
cancel the current drawing command, and
then close CADmx.
CADmx includes advanced
features, for example
- 16 different named layers.
- Uses absolute, relative, and
polar coordinates.
- All coordinates can be input as
mathematical statements, like
this example "(100-50)*SQR(Pi)"
- Full pen support.
- Export to AutoCad®
compatible DXF-files.
- Printing of drawings, with full
scale support.
- Re-use objects by adding them to
the clipart gallery.
- It is, and it will always be,
freeware, at least for personal
use.
- It's quite simple to use,
although it has been designed
with flexibility and power in
mind rather than ease of use.
- Works for the Series 5, Series
5mx, Series 7 and compatible
machines.
The current version is regarded as an
beta version, and probably still contains
bugs. Make sure to backup wour work
frequently.
See below for screenshots of CADmx in
action.
Things to do before the final
release
- Fix a DXF export bug reported.
- Fix other bugs as they are
discovered.
- Update the help-file

The future of CADmx.
Some, all or none of the
features on this wishlist will be added
in the future:
- DXF import. A lot of people
have asked for this, and some
kind of simple DXF import will
probably be added in the future.
- A type of 'object snap' as in
autocad, so you can start a line
accuratel from the end of another
line etc. Object snap might
appear in the future, at least to
some extent. Snap to endpoint is
most likely to occur.
- Easier selection of multiple
objects.
- Double tapping the pen on screen
starts the end of a line or
centre of circle and even
selecting objects for editing and
deleting. This probably won't
be added, maybe some day, but not
in the near future.
- Offset of lines etc. Maybe.
- Undo. This feature won't be
added in the near future.
- Trim and Extend. Might be
added in the future.
- Updated Clipart gallery. Different
categories, and some editing of
clipart objects will be added in
the future.
- Some kind of toolbar. Might
appear... but I'm not sure yet
since there already is one.
If you want to add things to this
wishlist... please send me a mail.
Licensing issues
There is a possibility that there
won't be any new features added to CADmx
1.0 in the future, only bug fixes. CADmx
1.0 will remain free for everyone to
download and use.
All new features will be added to the
next version of CADmx, which will be
called CADmx 2.0, CADmx Pro, or something
similar. CADmx 2.0 will be free
to download and use for personal
use, educational use and
for students. CADmx 2.0
will probably not
be free for commercial use.
The price for future commercial use of
CADmx 2.0 is not yet set, although, it
will not be very high. CADmx 1.0 will always
be free, even for commercial use.
Anyone will be encuraged to register
CADmx 2.0 anyway, even if it's not
necessary.
In case you are a student, or use CADmx
for personal use, and have low financial
resources, then you are not
encuraged to register the future CADmx
2.0.
This statement might change in the
future.
