The strengthening sills

Picture from a 1974 sales brochure The red arrow points at the special strengthening sill that is welded under the ordinary bodysill (not the chassis!). They often rusts away and some persons don`t bother to repair or replace them and simply removes them (I have seen this several times). This makes the car dangerously weak! New sills can be bought new or made by hand and this is not so expensive. But the welding must be made carefully or not so pleasant things may happen: see this!
