H. K., a conflict worker´s main steps in the process of conflict resolution work: |
1. |
Make an agreement with the leading persons in the conflict about that it is good to solve the conflict and that we together shall work with the conflict with the intention to solve it. |
2. |
Gather information about the conflict. |
3. |
Sort that information. |
4. |
Make a priority of the information. |
5. |
Identify the polarity, in the problem area of highest priority in the conflict. |
6. |
Give the different poles in that polarity their own different places in the room. |
7. |
Encourage the leading persons in the conflict to play/act their positions, i. e. their poles in the polarity, from the poles places in the room. |
8. |
Encourage all persons in the conflict to try to shift positions/poles in the polarity and take the opponent´s position/viewpoint/needs and play/act it from that pole´s place in the room. |
9. |
Encourage the persons to once more shift positions/point of views/needs to their original ones and act it from its pole´s place in the room. |
10. |
Encourage all persons in the conflict, once more, to shift positions/poles in the polarity and take the oponent´s position/viewpoint/needs and play/act it from that pole´s place in the room. |
11. |
Encourage the persons to take a new place in the room, beside the place of the polarity, and look from a meta-viewpoint at what happens in the polarity´s poles and in the process between the poles. |
12. |
Encourage the persons to express/act what they see. |
13. |
Repeat the items 7-12 until there is a positive change in the atmosphere between the persons. |
14. |
Encouurage the persons to search for a point of balance between the poles. What does the point of balance look like? What lies in it? |
15. |
Encourage the persons to take new positions/places near the point of balance and play/express/act what lies in that point of balance. |
16. |
Observe, support and use the positively changed atmosphere and feelings that now lies in the point of balance. |
17. |
Encourage all persons to contribute with acts from this point of balance. |
18.
Encourage the persons to make agreements from the point of balance. These
steps are the main principles of conflict resolution. Consult H. K. |
