Emma-Karin Millers: Homepage
Welcome to my homepage. I am Dr. Luke Guddat's PhD-student at
the School of Molecular and Microbial Sciences, University of Queensland

I and a diamond phyton!

The picture is taken during a presentation seminar of my results. It is in the VISAC laboratory at UQ which allows 3D visualisation of molecular structures.

Emma & phyton

I am using X-ray crystallography to determine the
3D-structure of protein from Australian venomous snakes to understand how they function as part of my work with the Venomics research group

The Venomics research group is a collaboration between
the School of Molecular and Microbial Sciences (UQ),
the School of Medicine at Princess Alexandra Hospital,
the Queensland Institute of Medical Research (QIMR) and QRX Pharma.

Macromolecular crystal structures of textilinin-1, as a free molecule and in complex with two other proteins, have been solved.

Emma & poster

Presenting a part of my research as a poster at the East Coast Protein Meeting, Coffs Harbour, 2005.

Hawaii
Participation at the Hawaii conference, 2006.
Emma-Karin + Jonathan

This is a picture from the ComBio Conference in Brisbane 2006. I am there together with another Phd-student, Jonathan Robson, also from the Venomics research group. We displayed our posters and explained our research.

There are may opportunities to discuss my research with my supervisor Dr Luke Guddat and to get support.
I have to set up many experiments to get useful crystals.
From the x-ray diffraction measurements I get thousands of data which I analyse and use to build the molecule structures.
This has been my homepage as a PhD-student.
I received my PhD-degree in the beginning of 2008.
