Trips
Most tourists doing trips in Phuket may consider to spend a lot of money when engaging a travel agency. For instance a bus tour to Wat Suwan Khua (the Cave Temple) in Phangnga combined with boat through the mangrove forests to Ko Pan Yi (the Sea Gypsy village) and to Ko Tapu (the James Bond Island) will cost around 2500 Bath per person. This tour can be arranged much cheaper if you are 2 to 6 persons through my friend Kris Sada. He has the telephone number 089-9721175. Read more about him under the chapter 'Bang Pae Waterfall'. I, my wife and two friends of us made this tour with Kris at a total cost of 4000 Bath, thus 1000 Bath per person.
The boat tour started through the river from Takua Thung through the mangrove forest and passed dramatical mountain islands rising vertically 200 meters over the sea level. These islands have caves at the sea level and the trip passed through one of them coming out on the other side of the island:
Here we are passing Ko Tapu - the James Bond Island:
And here some pictures from Ko Pan Yi - the Sea Gypsy village:
fter the boat trip we visited Wat Suwan Khua (the cave Temple) with it's laying Buddha:
In addition to the above described tours we also included in the same trip a visit to the Thai-Swedish Child Foundation in Muang Mai and the Noan family with their rubber production (See Sarasin Bridge) in the near of Thalang.
An other trip we did with Kris started from our hotel - Orchidacea - by his car up to the pear in Au Po. Here his big longtail boat and captain were waiting for us. Then we had a whole day out on the sea visiting the islands Ko Nakha Yai, Ko Nakha Noi (former pearl island) and the very small island Ko Phae:
This and an empty restaurant are what is left from the pearl farm on Ko Nakha Noi, which some years ago had many visitors.
Now Ko Phae is sighted.
A small island, which nearly disappears in the full moon high tide. We landed on a sand bank and had to wade to the island ...
... on shell sand.
The rocks on Ko Phae have a very odd structur.
During our visit low tide entered and we could reach the boat with dry feet. Kris demounted the ambrella he had put up for us and we returned to Au Po.
The whole trip costed just 2500 Bath (500 kr). Kris, who talks a very good English, is a perfect guide with good knowledge about most things.
