Rawai Beach.
This
beach at the south end of Phuket is not very good for swimming. The water is
very shallow and the bottom is rocky. At high tide you may be able to start
swimming from the shore but it is not advisable. Here you can see a big number

This year (2007) a 150 meters long landing has been built out from Rawai Beach. Now it is possible to start a boat trip from here at low tide as well as at high tide. Moreover, now it is easy to get into the water for a swim:
