In the south end of Kamala Beach hotels and bungalows lie tight. Many of these were very near the sea and were distroyed by the tsunami. On the country side of the village you will find shops and a market place, etcetera. Below is a fish stall in the market place:

The north end of Kamala Beach is more desolate but beautiful. Even here the tsunami was merciless. Thus the picture below from this place is just a memory:

Here you could relax by a family who run a small restaurant and massage at the beach. It was Mrs King who took care of you:

and many of my friends have been worried about her faith after the tsunami.
Visiting the place in September 2005 my worry increased. The devastation was
complete and there are no plans to renovate the place again. I found a few
people contemplating here, but they had no idea about what happened with Mrs
King. Then I went to the police station in Kamala and met there a lot of
policemen who were at the station for some kind of a meeting. One of them knew
Mrs King and told me that she now is working at
Buddha
be with her.
