The bear park at Grönklitt
Here is Europe's biggest bear park where brown bears and Kamchatka bears are roaming at relatively large areas. Standing on ramps, you can see the bears, but also wolves, catamounts, foxes and wolverines. In July 2007, Siberian tigers are moving in! The Great Precipice and the Waterfall of hellMany consider the Ämå river, rushing in the great woods of Orsa, as Dalecarlias most beautiful river. At the Waterfall of hell ("Helvetesfallet") the Ämå river has created a more than 30 metres deep canyon. And at the Great Precipice ("Storstupet"), tourist trains go along the railway "Inlandsbanan" on a bridge 34 metres above the Ämå river. Skräddar Djurberga summer farms
Visit one of Dalecarlia's largest summer farms where the traditions from former times are kept alive. In the summer, several kinds of animals are kept in pens or roaming freely. Most of the buildings are from the 17th to the 19th centuries. At Skräddar Djurberga you can buy special summer farm food from the farm maiden. Grindstone mines and grindstone museum
Carving grindstones was once, along with the iron manufacturing, Orsa's main sources of income. The history goes back to the middle of the 16th century. People still make products of Orsa sandstone and in Mässbacken, 1 kilometre from Fredshammar, there is a sand- and grindstone museum. The stone landDisplayed geological phenomena. To heighten the thrill, rent a canoe and paddle up or down the river, going ashore when ever you like. On a lucky day you may see the otters sliding down the steep banks. Birdwatching at LindängetWhere the Enå river meets the Orsa lake are shallow shore meadows which are considered the best area for migratory birds. Orsa rustic siteMany well-preserved old-age timber buildings from Orsa. Here you can also see a rich collection of everyday use objects from the past. A complete Finnmark farmhouse from the 17th century, with all its every day use objects preserved. In the summertime, there are guided tours of the farmhouse and the gun smithy. Pilkkalampinoppi fire towerThe first fire tower in Sweden. Built in the year 1889 after a huge fire. From here, a ravishing panorama view is opening up. SantaworldAt the foot of the Gesunda mountain you can meet Santa himself and all his pixies and also elfs, fairies, trolls and other fairy-tale figures. Santa lives in Santaworld. Orsayran - music festival in the streetsSwedens biggest street musician festival. Wednesday nights in July and sometimes August. See orsayran.se (in swedish). The tourist roadIf you want to enjoy your journey, choose the Tourist road at the top of the hill-side with the Orsa lake and Ore river in the valley. From that way you can see a large part of the Siljan circle which was formed when a meteorite fell down from space about 350 million years ago. Koppången nature reserveDalecarlia's largest area of marshes which is a nature reserve. When the winter turns into spring it is great to ski downhill Koppången on a sunny day.
