As with all modern handguns, the reliability and functioning of the SIG-SAUER pistols is normally very good. However, the main reason for "malfunctions" in weapons today, is that they have not been cleaned and serviced in a properly.
Here are a few easy tips on how to spot problems before they endanger your health and safety.
Remove the magazine, lock the slide to the rear, and verify that the weapon does not have a round in the chamber (look, and feel with your little finger). Let the slide move forward, and dryfire in a safe direction.
If you are uncertain on how to do it, let your gunsmith / armorer do the job instead.
The above mentioned check will not take more than 30 seconds to perform, and it ensures that your weapon is safe and ready to use. If you encounter any problems during the function check, do not continue with your range session.
If you are not a certified armorer, do not try to fix the problem. Leave it to your local gun dealer / armorer.
(Make sure that they are certified from SIGARMS).
