The very first Border Terrier in Åsa's family, Juniper Klio "Lisa", was born in 1971. She was bred by Julia Geijer and Gerd Bendz from two British parents, Ch Daletyne Danny Boy and Ch Mansergh Rhosmerholme Amethyst. We planned her life as a pet only, but her eagerness to work lead us into many unforeseen situations. Over the years Åsa's mother Helena Becker trialled her successfully in obedience, utility dog work, earthdog trials and blood-tracking. She was never bred, but two of her litter sisters - Int o Nord U Ch Juniper Klissandra and Juniper Klinta - can be found in the pedigrees of many Swedish Border Terriers of today. She was a wonderful first dog, teaching us all about the amazing temperament of a good Border Terrier.
1976 Juniper Pyssimanda "Pyssi" was introduced in the family as my - Åsa's - own dog. Lisa had been lent to me for the show ring only, with Pyssi I had the opportunity to trial too. Pyssi won a Swedish Show Champion title at 14 months and was trialled in all the same sports as Lisa with reasonable success if not quite up to Mum's and Lisa's standard. Pyssi and I had a lot of fun, at the end of her life in 1991 we had been together for more than half of my own life. In the 80's I went to university, worked abroad etc, and our children were born in the first part of the 90's. Pyssi alternated between me and mother, and two more Juniper bitches came to live with her. In 1997 we finally felt that we could provide a good life for a Border Terrier of our own again, Peter being won over from the Golden Retriever breed. We are very happy that Ulla and Tomas Larsson of Ottercap entrusted us "Maja", going back on Lisa's dam, and our goal is to carry on the line staying with the same type and temperament, improving the dogs while not changing the ideals. The latest litter, T, is the fourth generation Sagimus Border terrier.
