CALCULATING YOUR HORSE'S WEIGHT
Sometimes it can be useful to know
the weight of your horse. For example when it is time for de-worming. It
can also be useful when you want to monitor if your horse is putting on
or loosing weight.
The only thing you need is a measuring
tape (marked in centimeter), and a calculator.
You need to take two simple measurements
of your horse:
Measurement A
The first measurement is measured
from the horse's withers all around his waist back up to the withers on
the other side. Make sure to bring the tape as close to the front legs as
possible, you should NOT measure where you normally put the girth. Note
down the results (in cm).
Measurement B
Next measurement should be done
from the point of the shoulder, all the way to the point of buttock. You
should make the tape follow the contours of the horse's side - do NOT stretch
the tape so it won't follow the exact contour. Note down this results also
(in cm).
Calculation
Weight = (A*A*B)/11877
Example (not real horse):
A=180 cm
B=140 cm
180*180*140 = 4 536 000
4 536 000 / 11877 = 382 kg
