BREMEN

This years trip abroad was to Bremen in Germany.

This years trip abroad was to Bremen in Germany. There you could find
Bundes-Kaninchenschau, the German LU, that started 15-16 December. About 25.000
rabbits were registered, both known and some un-known species and colours were
represented.

My friend Harald Henning from Berlin told me that in Germany the “Dwarf lop”
may weight between 1.5-2Kg. The Manteltecknade animals can have a dark spot under
the stomach, one or two white spots at the rear, white strikes, spots at the
head, but the smallest white spot on the nose and they are gone.

When it comes the Hermelines, they may also weigh a bit more and the Germans are
also not so pedantic about the position of the ears or length, as we are either.

It is really important to know ones species when you want to shop. Many high
pointers 95-96.5 could receive everything from zero to 93 in Sweden.

                    When there
are so many rabbits, it would be impossible to see all. First you have to
concentrate on your own species and if you find something and all buying is done,
yes then you can cruise around and look at the others.

I almost got a new colour. Havana-Weiss= brown Manteltecknad. "Whow", what a
colour – as the most delicious chocolate cake, lovely lustre, super fine texture.
Yes I just stood there and slobbering. But as my live-together said, Where would
they sit? I have finished building for this year. Then it caught up with me too.
But we got room for a little Madagascar-Manteltecknad miss, so she could come
with us home. The real bright Siamese that I wanted, was either not for sale or
already sold.

There was as usual a big hall with products, from hot dogs to fur
coats.

The sales stands worked very well this time, as every table “only” had 1500
numbers each. Even if some places had cues, there was no chaos as in Wels last
year.

As usual there was long cues outside when the parade opened at 7:00, many
bought the tickets at 6:00 already. It was 9:00 when we arrived and it was quiet,
only to just walk in, but then you have to blame your self, as the things you
wanted was already sold.

This time we saw the rabbit jumping for the first time abroad! Many starters and
equally cramped for the public. It was both surprising and fun.

My friend Harald, has by the way 3 new animals in his rabbit yard. Dwarf lop,
Isabella comes from me. This colour did not exist earlier in Germany, but Harald
learnt that he could exhibit them and get some points for them. The colour did
not exist, but was allowed. Now we are both exited on the results. The idea was
that we both should have had a male and female, but I did not manage to get hold
of more than non related male, therefore Harald took them all. So far, he thinks
they are just fine, at lest the fur (short and thick) and that he had not seen
before.
When the exhibition was closed for the day, it was time do visit the city.

                       In
this case Bremen, which had much to offer. The whole Altsstadt was one big
Christmas market. With plenty of stands and Merry go rounds. Bremen is also known
for its town musicians. It is a story about the donkey, dog, cat and cock. A
story that we all can see in our minds but not tell again.
We then drove home and made ourselves up to date. You do that too, that’s good.

Another less funny incident happened on Saturday at about 5-6 a clock. Bremen met
another team in the Cup-match. The fans were on their way home. Over 30 police
cars and over 100 police men with or without their aggressive drewling but
muffled dogs and the military was on guard for the fans for a few hours from
their trip from the train station. Talk about country cups in Sweden.

One tip from me is that : Everybody should once visit such a big show. It is
very interesting and gives memories for the rest of your life.

Rabbitos on you all. Merry Christmas and happy new year wishes
Anders and Agnetha
