Rent a house in southern
France
Our
fishermans cottage is located in St Cyprien Plage, by the
Mediterranean Sea at the foot of the Pyrenees. It was built in 1948
and is still in a quiet neighborhood, 150 meters from the beach.
The
house is about 100 square meters with a guest cottage, Casote,
approximately 25 square meters (click here for detailed drawing) .
In
total there are 5 bedrooms with 3 double and 3 single beds with
possibility for some extra beds. There are 3 bathrooms with showers.
Both the big house and the Casote have fully equipped kitchens each
with a refrigerator, freezer, cooker, microwave and dishwasher. Oven
and washing machine are in the big house. The cottage is suitable for
both one and two families. The houses are renovated in 2009 with the
old charm preserved. The large house has 4 meters to the ceiling with
visible beams. Both houses are equipped to be used year-round with
air condition and heat exchangers, with a wood stove in the large
house. The lot is 480 square meters, a roof terrace is planned and
there is an outdoor shower. There is a barbecue grill, garden
furniture for 8 people and a couple of sun beds. The garden has
several trees that provides shade when needed and is surrounded by a
hedge and wall.
A
wonderful 6 km long beach is 150 meters away. In summer it is almost
always warm and sunny (the weather right now) . An excellent golf
course is 2 km away. The house is located in a neighborhood where
locals gather. In our block (Quartier Rodin) there is a fish shop, a
butcher, a vegetable and wine merchant, a bakery and a small grocery
store. There is also the square Place Rodin, a boules yard, 5
restaurants and bars, a barber shop and a newsagent. Additional
restaurants located at Place Maillol, 400 meters away and in the
harbor, 1 km away. In summer there are several cafés directly on the
beach. On Tuesdays and Fridays, there is a market in the quarter with
a rich supply of local goods, clothing, etc. There are several
supermarkets with wide range of delicacies and groceries at
convenient distances. Fresh fish can be purchased at the port each
day at 3 pm.
The
city of Perpignan (117 500 inhabitants) is situated 20 km away.
Several small villages with churches, monasteries, museums and
vineyards are nearby. A few kilometers away, you will find the
Pyrenees with wonderful hiking trails, caves, bird-watcher stations
and winter skiing resorts. Spanish Barcelona lies only 200 km away
and is easily accessible via the motorway. The tax haven Andorra is
also on a day-trip distance.
Ryanair
has cheap flights to Perpignan (20 km away), and to Gerona (100 km
away). The bus company Frogbus has a route from Gerona Airport to
Perpignan. A bus from Perpignan to St. Cyprien Plage costs 1 €. The
Barcelona airport is 180 km to the south.
