| Of the many cars built by Carl Borgward under the names of Borgward, Hansa, Lloyd and Goliath, the Isabella is the one most remembered today. This, however, is the last big luxury Borgward called P100 designed to compete with the Mercedes 220S. It had a 2,3 litre, 6-cylinder engine of 100 hp, developed from the Isabella four and many other components derived from that car. A special feature was the air-assisted suspension offered as an option. From 1960 until 1961 when Borgward went bankrupt around 2500 were built. After many tribulations a further 226 were built in Mexico from 1967 as 230 and 230GL. |
