Digging for Meccano

A shortcut to Meccano archaeology.

The other day I stumbled over this wooden box in a junk shop.

Now, what was that?

Non-Meccano parts sorted out.

Those little boys get dirty ...

Sun-dry parts ... so to speak.

A nice selection of Braced Girders - some of them in the short-lived pea green colour of 1926!

The Flanged Plates have the slots for the Circular Saw, and the Flanged Sector Plate still has a single row of holes.

The Windmill Sail has a strange look ... but rest assured, it is not broken!

But alas, most Perforated Strips were broken, bent or damaged.

Broken strips are carefully accounted for ...

... and, in some cases, cut down to get matching pairs of useful sizes, and avoiding waste.

Edges are rounded using a bench grinder (not visible in the picture, but perfectly audible by my neighbour).

A Double Angle Strip retaining its double-angled shape.

And my collection of early Meccano parts is getting even more complete!
