Heraldry resources

This is the main Dormer arms used by Geoffrey Dormer of West Wycombe the father of Geoffrey Dormer, who was a mercer of Calais, and grandfather of Geoffrey Dormer who was born about 1408 and died 9 March 1501/02. This third Geoffrey married Ursula Collingridge and a Margaret from whom the Barons of Wing are descended. One of their sons was Michael Dormer, Lord Mayor of London.

The arms are azure, 10 Billets or; 4, 3, 2, and 1 : on a chief of the second a demy lion rampant sable, arm'd and langu'd gules.

These arms were presented in “History and Antiquities of the Church of the Blesses Virgin Mary of Thame” by The Rev. Frederick George Lee, DD FSA. These would be the arms of the third Geoffrey Dormer.

The arms are 1st and 3rd quarter : azure, 10 Billets or; 4, 3, 2, and 1 : on a chief of the second a demy lion rampant sable, arm'd and langu'd gules (Dormer). 2nd quarter : gules, on a chevron inter 3 fish nayant argent, 3 martlets sable on a chief or 3 escallops gules. (Baldington) 4th quarter : argent, 3 fleurs de lis azure (Acondel).

Note: the same arms are also given with the chief in the 3rd quater argent instead of or.

These arms were presented in "The Visitation of Buckinghamshire in 1634" for Dormer of Shipton Lee.

The arms are 1st: azure, 10 Billets or; 4, 3, 2, and 1 : on a chief of the second a demy lion rampant sable, arm'd and langu'd gules (Dormer). 2nd quarter : gules, on a chevron inter 3 fish nayant argent, 3 martlets sable on a chief argent 3 escallops gules. (Baldington) 3rd quater 2 flanches quarterly purpure fesse gules and chequred or and azure a lion rampant argent in the 1st and 3rd quarter (Holt) 4th quarter : argent, 3 fleurs de lis azure. (Acondel).

This is another version of the Baldington arms, which appear in the 4th quarter of the Dormer arms. Robert Baldington was Lord of the Manor of Baldington in Thame and father to Judith Baldington who married Geoffrey Dormer the father of Geoffrey Dormer mercer of Calais.

Azure, three fleurs de lys or

This version of the Baldington arms is for the Baldingtons of Oxfordshire and is different to previous Baldington arms.

Argent, on a chevron sable, between three pellets, as many rose of the field

Here is another Dormer arms that were described in the diaries of Anthony Wood who was writing in 1661.
