Rear axle change

First I have to strip the hell out of the axle. The bracket for the factory 4 link and coil support has to go.

Here’s the left over.

This is the new “weld in” bracket. From the top left is the combined lower control arm and shock mount. On the top right you can see the mounts for the upper control arms witch is angled in 45 degrees, and finally the bag brackets with the reinforcements plates on the bottom.

The old axle is going to be retired.

I set the pinion angle before I can tack weld the brackets.

I level it up in 90 degrees.

And in side ways as well.

When all is level and in right place it’s time to tack weld.

The axle is out for final welding and painting.

Here’s a close up shot of the new brackets welded and primer painted.

Almost finished. Just add some black paint and mount it to the old Buick.
