Sailing
One of our hobbies is sailing, and for the last twenty-five years we have spent all summer holidays cruising in the Baltic. In the summer of 2000 we were headed for Finland, but it turned out to be the rainiest and coldest summer in many years, and we managed to pick the worst part of it!

S/y Necessity is a 28ft masthead sloop, built in 1980. The engine was replaced a few years ago, and this year she got a new roller-furling genoa (the foresail) which really improved her sailing performance. |
At anchor, on one of the few nice evenings, in a small bay on the north coast of the Aland islands, located between Sweden and Finland. The islands belong to Finland, but the population is almost entirely Swedish-speaking!
It does not look like it here, but we had actually sought shelter from strong northerly winds.
