Chicago businessman S.H. Arnolt imported MG after the war and also had some rebodied by Bertone. To that end he had to buy half of that firm and became vice-president. When MG couldn't deliver any more TCs he looked around for a substitute and in 1953 came to an agreement with Bristol to buy modified 404 chassis then bodied by Bertone. These were called "Bolide"and were powered by the 1971 cc 6-cylinder engine derived from the pre-war BMW 327/328. 100-140 were made from 1954 to 1960 (some say 1964). "Wacky" Arnolt also had some cars made on Aston-Martin chassis. |
